MELISSA LLOYD
I am a born and raised Tinkling member. Most of my family (on both sides) attends Tinkling. I grew up attending Sunday School, LOGOS, youth group, and participating in music activities as a child and young adult. I taught kindergarten and first grade Sunday school six years ago with my then fiancé, now husband, Tommy Lloyd. I have helped at L.I.F.E and Bible school, mostly with the pre-school and elementary children doing arts, recreation and teaching. I am currently a youth advisor and love working with the youth in our church. I am also a part of the chancel choir. I am very drawn to working with children and I enjoy working in the mission field in any way that I can!
What I love most about Tinkling is the open arms and friendly faces, who are more than willing to go the extra mile to help those in need.
JOHN MARCUM
My wife, Lara, and I have been Tinkling Spring members for about 7 years. We have two sons – Jack, 14 and Joseph, 10. The close, family atmosphere of Tinkling Spring was the determining factor for Lara and I when joining the church.
I have served as an usher, helped in the nursery, been a table parent, and helped with VBS. For the past 5 years I have served as a Deacon. I have served on the communications, office, stewardship, audit and buildings & grounds committees. I am currently serving as chairman of the Board of Deacons. I hope to be able to continue serving the Tinkling Spring congregation for many years to come.
JULIAN MOFFETT
I have attended Tinkling Spring for 60 years and been a member for 40 years. What I love most about this church is that we are a strong Presbyterian church that has a theological approach that I agree with. I like the friendly family atmosphere, the style of worship and the country setting it offers. I have served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, an Elder, Chairman of the planning Committee, Chairman of the Trustees, Chairman of the Records Committees, and am currently serving as the Chairman of the Pastor Nominating Committee. I’ve served in many other areas as well.
We have the opportunity as a church who is 270 years old, to call a new minister to lead and strengthen our congregation in our Christian Faith and to continue our mission with God. This can be both exciting and challenging as we seek God in finding the perfect match for Tinkling Spring. One other challenge I believe we have is to pay off the debt of our Building Fund, and strengthen our stewardship and under shepherd programs.
SARAH THIBODEAU
A friend told me to come to Sunday School when I was in the third grade, so I did. I was then baptized at Tinkling a few months later and my family became part of the church. I am now a seventeen year old Junior in high school. I've been active in almost everything at church whether it be LOGOS, youth group, middle school and high school choir, Chancel Choir, our program called L.I.F.E., mission trips, Vacation Bible School and much more. I just stopped serving on our contemporary task force committee, which was formed to install a contemporary worship style at our church. Most high schoolers stop attending church but my youth group and I are over 50 youth strong. That's why I keep coming back, the family aspect, whether it be from my peers, children, or adults.
NANCY WADLEY
I have been a member of TSPC for about 5 and 1/2 years. For three of those years, I served on the Session as an active Elder. Presently, I serve as an At-Large member on four committees, Personnel, Worship, Fellowship, and Commitment. I am responsible for the preparation of Communion and have carried this responsibility for almost 5 years. I also substitute in the church office, bake for the Sunday morning coffee hour, and help in the kitchen for bereavement meals and other special events. I am a member of the Ladies Bible Study Sunday School class, and for the past 5 years, I have been the treasurer and corresponding secretary of the Lena Venable Circle. For the second year, I am part of the Adopt-a-College Student program. And, when asked, I am always happy to assist in any special happenings at Tinkling, such as the Veterans' Recognition Sunday on November 14th.
What do I love most about Tinkling? "It's family!" in every way to me and to all who choose to accept the welcoming warmth of this very, very special church.
SHARON WOOD
I have been a Presbyterian all of my life and have called Tinkling Spring my church home for the past 10 years. Six of those years I served as an active Elder on the Session and during that time I was also on the Christian Education (serving as chairman for five years) and Youth Committees. I currently serve as treasurer of the Tinkling Spring Preschool, actively participate in the Lena Venable Circle, attend the Covenant Sunday School Class, actively attend L.I.F.E. , sing with Celebration Singers, and enjoy helping out wherever I have time and a talent to share. On the presbytery level, I serve as an adult leader for the Shenandoah Presbytery Youth Council better known as SPYCE.
The thing I love the most about Tinkling Spring is the church family and how love and faith are so freely shared with one another.
TOM YANCEY
I grew up in this church, joining in March of 1967. I cherish the friendships that were formed in Sunday School, in youth groups and on the softball field that have lasted a lifetime. Memories of a church family that genuinely cared about you, what was happening in your life, and what they could do to help. More recently, I have had the privilege to serve Tinkling as both a Deacon and Elder with various committee assignments. I now sing (some might say make a joyful noise) in 3 choirs , help teach the Covenant Sunday School class and go on a mission trip to Summerlee, West Va. each July.
What I love about Tinkling Spring now is the same as it was many years ago. Linda and I saw firsthand how many of you gave of your time to support our 3 children (along with many others) in Sunday School, youth groups and mission trips. This is a church family that strives every day to meet the needs of people both inside and outside the walls of our Sanctuary. Thanks be to God for each of you.

March 2011 Update
Since our Church Information Form was downloaded into the computer in Louisville in mid January we have received over 60 Pastor Information Forms. We have spent a great deal of time reviewing these information forms and have chosen to interview at least six of the candidates. At the time this article is being written we have conducted interviews with four of the candidates through the technical means of Skype. This has given us the opportunity to have face to face interviews with these candidates. By the time you receive this newsletter, we hope to have had interviews with additional candidates through the same means. We do know at this time we would like to offer a second interview to at least one of the interviewed candidates and hopefully a few more will hold the same ranking. In the meantime of scheduling and conducting interviews we have and will continue to review any new Pastor Information Forms received.
This is a time consuming process and is not one that we want to rush through. We know that God has chosen the next pastor of TSPC and we know that through prayer, patience, faith, and God granted wisdom we will be led to His choice. We ask for your continued prayers and support.

February 2011 Update
We have spent numerous hours over the last several weeks reviewing PIF’s (Pastor Information Forms). There are many pastors looking for new positions and we are taking our job quite seriously by taking a very earnest look at each of them. After much thought and discussion we have narrowed the current possible candidates to five, possibly six that we would like to interview. If all goes well we will have had our first telephone or Skype interviews with these folks by the time you receive this newsletter. If the first interview with a candidate proves positive, we plan to have a second interview with them before deciding on whether or not to have a face to face contact with them. As we go through the process of learning to know more about these possible candidates, we will continue to look at any new PIF’s sent our way by the computer matching process.
We have learned this is a time consuming process that certainly calls for patience, understanding, and prayers. We trust and feel we have all three from our church family. Thank You!

January 2011 Update
Since you last heard from us our Church Information Form (CIF) has been completed, approved by our Session, forwarded to and approved by the Shenandoah Presbytery Committee on Ministry, and submitted to the Presbytery office in Louisville, Kentucky. Word was received on January 19th stating the CIF received the final approval and was activated in the Presbytery Church USA database known as CLC (Church Leadership Connection) and is ready for the matching process. We ask for your continued prayers and support as we enter into this next step of the process.
December 2010 Update
The Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) held an informal meeting on Friday, October 22, 2010 in the home of Julian Moffett. The committee enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by Ellen Moffett and spent the evening learning to know one another’s strengths and weaknesses. Julian shared a suggested guideline on the process of calling a new Pastor, which was provided by the Presbytery. Each member of the committee was also given a copy of the mission study recently completed by our congregation. The group, realizing the work lying ahead of them, scheduled their first official meeting for Sunday, November 7th. This meeting was attended by Bill Klein who has been appointed as the liaison between the PNC and the Presbytery. Bill, currently serving as pastor of the Lexington Presbyterian Church, came to the meeting with much to share with the committee. Things to be done first are making a budget for the committee, determining travel guidelines, and working on the Church Information Form.
The committee met again on Sunday, November 14th, to begin the work on the Church Information Form (CIF). This form is being completed by using the recent Mission Study conducted, compiled, and approved by our Session in August 2010. The form shares data of our congregation (membership size, diversity among membership, etc.). It also gives a briefing of what qualities we are looking for in a pastor and introduces our church to possible candidates. Once the PNC has completed the CIF it will be approved by our Session and the Presbytery. It is then electronically filed and the computer in the denominational office in Louisville, KY, begins working to compare our data to the data on possible candidates and then the excitement begins as we start receiving information on possible candidates. Once this information is received we must diligently review the information on the candidates while being in prayer and allowing God to be our guide as we go through this process.
It is the desire of the PNC to keep our church family informed on the process of calling a new Pastor. We will provide a monthly update in the church newsletter and informative announcements will be placed in the weekly bulletins when there is something new to share. For now, please know we are working on the process of the CIF and ask for your continued prayers, love, patience, and support. We must all remember that God has a plan for this congregation and for the next pastor. Through prayer He will guide us through this process.
